Menulis (Lithuanian for Moon) is an original oil painting inspired by the quiet atmosphere of a moonlit night in Vilnius, Lithuania. The artwork explores the emotional contrast between warm architectural tones and the cool blue light of the moon, capturing the peaceful beauty and mystery that only nighttime can create.
The creative process began with a pencil sketch drawn on location at ArkliĊ³ Street 16 in Vilnius. Several months later, the scene was reinterpreted in oil from memory and personal observation while looking out at the moonlit night from my home. Rather than creating an exact architectural representation, the painting expresses the mood, light and emotions that the place inspired.
This artwork reflects my interest in traditional painting, urban landscapes and the subtle relationship between architecture, light and atmosphere.
